Farhad Humayun’s Latest Single “Kambakht” Hits Airwaves with Its Disco Vibe

Farhad Humayun’s latest single “Kambakht” takes inspiration from the disco era - a time of self-discovery and freedom of expression through color, glitter, and sparkle. “Kambakht” goes back to that time of letting go and discovering who you are and can be. The single is about that voyage and the realization that you are special and can be what you want to be.

“Kambakht” is a duet by Farhad Humayun and Faiza Mujahid, penned by artist Hamza Ali
Abbassi. The single was originally the title track of a shelved project that Hamza Ali Abbasi wrote, directed and starred in, also titled Kambakht.

The music with its horns, drums, and guitars are reminiscent of Spaghetti Western movie soundtracks. Farhad Humayun’s signature high energy musical arrangement, vocals, and instrumentation are complimented seamlessly by Faiza Mujahid's soaring vocals.

The video of the single is a recreation of the same era with bright lights in a retro club-like setting similar to the Soul Train shows of the 70s. The characters are decked up in bright colors and shiny fabrics and plenty of heavy makeup accessorized with hats, big glasses, and beaded jewelry. The video will take you back to the sixties and seventies in-sync with the fun vocals. Styled by Haiya Bokhari, the characters in the video are all friends of Farhad Humayun dancing to the beats of the single.

On the release of the single Farhad Humayun said:
“This is a track that always made me laugh while I was making it. I've always felt that to be creative I needed to play with sounds and visual material that made me uncomfortable. I never want to be confined to a sound or identity that works for me or helps me sell myself, so I decided to drop the usual intensity and darkness in my music and approach. I just wanted to have fun with this one and I sure did. Faiza sang great and everyone on set had great energy and good vibes. They were all brought together by Uzma at Native Rock. She's great at what she does. I always work with the best team.”

Faiza Mujahid talking about her experience of working with Farhad Humayun said, "Recording Kambakht was a great experience & working with Farhad Humayun was a pleasure, as he is respectful & sweet. Shooting the video was quite a lot of fun, as everyone who was there, knew each other & it was more like a party with a lot of bling! It's a peppy song, something which I haven't done in a while. Hope everyone enjoys the funky vibe to it, just like I enjoyed being a part of it!"

The audio and video are produced & directed by Farhad Humayun, lyrics by Hamza Ali Abbasi, mixed by Sarmad Ghafoor, mastered by Emily Lazar assisted by Chris Allgood at The Lodge Mastering New York with the director of photography Shahzaman Baloch and Hamza Yousaf. The video was styled by Haiya Bokhari with Uzma Rao of  Native Rock in charge of Public Relations and Production Management. Faiza’s makeup and styling were done by Soson’s. All the instruments used in the song are played by Farhad himself which speaks volumes of the hard work he puts in while creating music.

Farhad's upcoming album Mera Naam is already creating waves of excitement - courtesy of these soothing and fun-filled singles. Let's keep our fingers crossed because it's gonna be worth the wait!
