Ali Ashraf Charging Up Islamabad With Live Music

"Every man of courage is a man of his word" is a quote of Pierre Cornielle that fits perfectly to Ali Ashraf who in his earlier conversation with us shared his plans about how he wants to revive live music in Islamabad first and in the whole country lately. You can read that conversation here.

He had in his plans to arrange a music festival in Islamabad where indie musicians could come and perform in front of a huge crowd but we didn't expect it coming this soon. Ali in collaboration with Echo Records, arranged Echo Rock Fest 2016 on September 17 at PNCA Islamabad and it was a full house. With audience coming in big number and artists performing at their full potential it was a night to remember for long. The festival was free for all to attend but with an online registration process making sure there is no security risk and also that entertainment is not only for who can pay for it but for all.

Bands who performed at Echo Rock Fest 16 include Aarish, Jasim Haider & The Pindi Boys, Blackhour, DissBelief, and last but not the least Ali Ashraf himself. The presence of a huge number of people was a message to those critics who believe that people do not want to attend music shows and have lost interest in them.

There were many commendable performances. Shahmir Quidwai was exceptional with his high vocals and the energy he generates on stage was one of the highlights of the show. Blackhour entertained the crowd with their terrific guitar solos and music. The man who stole the show was Ali Ashraf who performed his debut album Paheli's soulful tracks and also performed some covers which was applauded by all.

It seems quite obvious now that live music is getting revived in all parts of the country and soon a time will come when there will be a concert everyday. The credit would go to all the artists trying to bring those days but in Islamabad, it would be Ali Ashraf who would be wearing this crown and I hope he achieves his goals at a rapid pace so that everybody would be able to cherish the taste of live music. Keep Rocking Ali Ashraf!
