Kashmir's Debut Album "Khwaab" Is Out And Pakistanis Are Like "Kashmir Hamara Hai"

The winners of Pepsi Battle Of The BandsKashmir - The Band, have released their debut Khwaab and it seems like music scene of the late 90s and early 2000s is finally reviving. Comprising of Bilal Ali, Vais Khan, Usman Siddiqui, Shane J. Anthoney Zair Zaki, and Ali Raza, Kashmir stole millions of hearts with their rendition of Mera Pyar originally sung by the late great Amir Zaki. Since then, there's no stopping Kashmir and they are creating magic with their mesmerizing music.

Khwaab gives you a chance to take some time out of your rushy life and enter a melodious world of spellbinding music, appealing lyrics, and calmness that Kashmir is best known for. Each song is like a different journey with rhythmic ups & downs and speaks volumes of the kind of talent Kashmir Band possesses. This time around, we sat down with the soul of the band Bilal Ali for a small interview to know how this album turned out to be and what they have in store for us.

Q1: How would you describe this experience of making an album?

It’s a dream come true. That’s one of the reasons we’ve titled the album Khwaab. Working with artists like Zulfi was an experience in its own. We got to learn a great deal and we progressed a lot as musicians.

Q2: Which is your favorite number from the album?

We all have different favorites from the album. There are a few songs that are yet to be released soon. One track we’re particularly excited about is Dhoop.

Q3: Do you have any plans for national tours for album promotions? Are they going to be Pepsi sponsored or private?

Definitely. We love doing concerts and we'll be doing concerts a live set of songs from the album. Apart from that we'll also be doing meet and greet sessions. Pepsi has been supporting us throughout and they will be helping us with this as well. Other than that, we are also getting a lot of offers of private gigs the details of which will be available as soon as they are finalized.

Q4: Can we expect some more videos in the near future? If yes, which ones?

Yes, hopefully. We plan to release videos of as many songs as we can. They’ll hopefully start coming out soon. Which one? Haha, I guess you should keep your fingers crossed!

Q5: How has the response been so far? Did it live up to your expectations?

It definitely does. We are very grateful for the love and respect we have received from our fans. The songs have reached out far and hopefully when the videos come out, the songs will reach even more people.

Q6: In your opinion, how did this album give you a chance to explore yourselves as musicians and experiment with the sound?

Our music has always been about experimenting and trying something new. This album features that very same experimental sound. On one end there are tracks like Pareshaniyan that is very indie-pop and then there are alternative rock songs like Khwaab. Other tracks are also different experiments. We’d like to appreciate the efforts of Zulfi who helped give direction to our ideas in order to produce something that is versatile and also good to hear.

Q7: Please give a message to your fans.

Well, a message cannot be good enough to thank all those lovely people who have made us who we are today. We are very thankful to Allah for blessing us with the kind of fans we have and we are planning a lot of surprises for you guys. Stay tuned and "Kashmir aapka he hai."
