Covering Vital Signs' songs is always a daring task considering the dynamics of Junaid Jamshed's vocals and the diversity of music the band always brought to the table. However, Ali Ashraf - a musician, singer, songwriter, and composer from Islamabad - seems to have mastered this art. He is consistently releasing covers that are taking us back to the 90s.
The good thing about these covers is that they are as simple as you may like. No fancy videos, no unnecessary improvisations, or extra solos - just music at its very best.
Being a musical genius, Ali Ashraf knows how to maintain the originality of the song and present it with new vibes. Haris Rao on piano and Ammama Ahmed on guitar are doing a fabulous job with their instruments. These two guys also happen to be Ali's childhood friends. Surprisingly, their friendship started because of Vital Signs and this bond is synchronizing perfectly in their collaboration.

So far, he has released 3 covers and each one of them are pleasing to the ears. A singer's personality should shine through voice and this is what Ali Ashraf is all about. He rose to fame with his debut album Paheli that went on to ruled the charts across digital music platforms for weeks. He also has the credit to his name of reviving the underground live music culture in Islamabad through Echo Records - his own record label.
Even though just three covers have been released, we are completely blown away with his soulful voice paying tribute to arguably the biggest band we have had in Pakistan, Vital Signs. Let's hope he releases more stuff like this and give this new generation a hint of the great music we have been producing in the past.
